The Wamsler 1100

Peter Jason one year ago

I purchased my second hand, 1100 about 4 years ago now, from out of the north of scotland, although it was only 3 years old and hardly used when i purchased it, when i eventually got it fitted, at first i was a bit disappointed with it, because it would only burn wood and coal, and i wanted to burn household waste paper and everything else on it, just like i used to do on my old rayburn! But with me coming from a engineering background, i decide to modify the grate on the 1100, and replace it with one i made myself, and now i can burn everything on it!! you name it, and the stove will burn it! after, lots of trial and error i worked it out, and it is now very very economical, in the winter it burns 1 cwt of welsh anthracite or welsh cobbles, and 14 small logs and 7 very large logs a week, when i mean by very large logs i mean logs that measure up to 40 cm long X 26cm deep X 17 cm wide These very large logs, are loaded when the fire in the fire box is very low, through the top plate of the stove, because i live in a big old drafty town house i have to keep the stove in most of the year and only let it go out from july until the beginning of october, at the beginning of the warmer weather, and up to the beginning of july the stove burns 2 small logs a day and a 25 kg bag of multiheat coal a week, all i know that it is a very good economical stove and if anything went wrong with this one, i would purchase another one tomorrow!
