This is our first stove, and having been using it for a couple of months now we are very satisfied. The stove was a fairly easy installation and has been one of best purchases for our new home. It lights first time, every time. It gets warmed up really quickly and certainly heats our living room and more.
Would recommend to anyone considering a stove.

Overall a great stove, though the build quality can be very random, i sent my first 2 stoves back, as the 1st had a stud missing that holds the glass the second had large gaps in the glass and seals. the 3rd stove was fine, i guess this is down to poor quality control.

it is amazingly easy to light, gives out stacks of heat and the flue can be swept through the stove.

ive seen both the solo and duo stoves close up and think the solo is the best for apperance as you get a much better flame picture

A word of warning for Solo buyers

I purchased two stoves recently the single door version of this stove for a rented property and the bigger single door stove for my own house. While I was in the shop a lady came in to pick up a new stove glass at modest cost. When i got home a little voice in my head said it might be worth checking out the cost of a new glass for these stoves as accidents do happen particularly in rented property. I got a shock. A quick search produced a single supplier offering this glass (presumably because it is curved) and the price was £107. I phoned Villager. Their price is £64.05 plus vat and delivery of £10.50, a total of £84.15. My order was cancelled pdq. Based on a buying price of £380 inc vat I reckon Villager could spend no more than £100 per stove on materials allowing for their profit, overheads, retailers mark up etc. So I would guess a new glass would cost Villager £15 max. Rip off Britain?.
Anyone looking at this stove might like to consider the two door version for which new glass can be obtained cheaply. Perhaps other third party suppliers will come in and the price of glass for the solo model will fall.

During this last winter we have set the central heating to "Twice" so it's off most of the day. We light the stove at around 3 p.m. and it heats not only the room it's in but also the central chimney stack which radiates heat through the rest of the house. Although it only runs for about two hours a day the room it is in is still noticably in the morning. It's a great, easy-to-use stove and throws out quite enough heat for our 1928 3-bed semi. Highly recommended.
