Review of Villager Esprit 5 Solo stove

Not a good start

Maureen Chappell 9 years ago

I bought a Villager Esprit 5 as it looked a solid and well built product in Jan 14, It worked well for the first month but then I noticed the handle felt loose, the door would not close properly causing the fire to continually draw, you could see gap at the top and sides of door. I got straight on the phone to Arada who is supplier and they stated they had never had this problem with this range of stoves. A new handle was sent but it has not cured the problem, nightmare as we are now expected to fill in a warranty claim, surely a valid receipt is a valid guarantee ! Still waiting to use fire again not impressed with after sales care .

Stove expert replied: When a warranty claim is required customers should deal with the supplier of the stove not the manufacturer, a warranty claim form is normally required and the information supplied by the customer is very useful to insure that it is not a problem with more than the stove involved. The serial number helps to establish this. The installation may need to be checked if the stove is over-drawing as this may be causing the problem and can be corrected with a flue stabilizer / flue damper, it is not always the fault of the stove when a problem occurs.
