After spending all year looking at stoves we were recommended a Stockton 8 inset stove by our excellent installer. Our house is 10 years old quite large and the ground floor is mainly open plan. We were advised that to heat the whole area we would need 12kw but on talking to our installer decided that would over heat the main room. We had our stove fitted on the 11th September and so far non of the comments we read on your reviews have come true. The stove is easy to light and sends out so much heat that we have to open the doors to vent some upstairs! We have only had a few cold nights so far but roll on the really cold weather so we can test it. Also we didnt like the look of the canopy so have the flat top stove and after reading lots of comments and studying the instructions are using very dry wood. We have not yet attempted to burn our stove over night so will need to see how that works out.
Considering the price of this stove I would expect better. The airwash need to be near full to prevent blackning, does not work on the far right hand side and burns too fast with it on full. Major design flaw - using the canopy, the convected heat, instead of going into the room is sucked back into the stove via the airwash negating the point of the convection system. Probably OK with a flat top. Customer service from Stovax - Useless.
Took 2 months to reply and claim that there "was no problem" other nigling design flaws - spills ash on the harth when the doors are opened.
Good stove if you have a fireplace opening and do not want to take up a lot of room. I would question the output as I only need 6kw and this stove does not heat room adequately.
