Review of Stovax Stockton 5 stove

Great little stove

We had this stove installed this year. It takes a bit of getting used to as it has quite a small combustion chamber. This makes it quite sensitive to changes in air settings. Once you get used to it, the controls settings are easy to master and work very effectively. It is very easy to light and comes up to temperature quite quickly. We fitted a stove pipe temperature gauge and also use an ultrasonic thermometer, both of which act as a comparison between actual temperatures and the state of the visible fire. Once up to temperature it seems to work best with the temperature kept a little on the high side and will maintain a good room temperature within 45 minutes or so. The build quality appears good and the door seals are a modern crushable tubular fibre material instead of conventional fire rope which makes them more flexible and will hopefully last longer. Every single part is available directly from Stovax together with exploded diagrams - very useful for future maintenance. Overall, we are very pleased with this stove, both visually and operationally.
