Review of Stovax Riva 40 multi fuel

Great Stove

Alan 11 years ago

Bought this for a new build last summer so we are now well into our first winter with this stove. I find it extremely efficient. 2 or three large lumps of firewood will keep this going all evening and give off a good heat. I don't understand the comments about ash build up as I am still amazed how little ash this leaves compared to an open fire. I only empty the ash tray once a week ( and it is not overflowing). I like to leave a good bed of ash for woodburning so have not yet had to clean the firebox at all !! I have not tried coal but I think althought it is called a multifuel stove it is really best as a woodburner as the grate works well with the really fine wood ash. Also we have only had to clean the glass once and it is very easy to light and control from shutting down to a roaring fire. One thing a do at the end of the evening is give the embers a good raking and then leave the air fully open. This burns any large half burned ashes away to almost nothing. I have not even tried to leave it overnight.
