Hard to control

This is an attractive stove but in our house it has been problematic. We have a tall (12m) flue so the draught is normally strong. The main problem has been the imbalance between the secondary (airwash) and tertiary air. So much air is supplied by the tertiary vents at the back of the stove that one has to be very careful not to over fuel it: if too much fuel is supplied then the fire burns uncontrollably because the tertiary air has no form of regulation. In this situation closing the secondary air control doesn't slow the fire down but does lead to the window smoking up. As a result we are unable to burn softwood though careful use of hardwood is less of a problem. Overall the stove needs to be watched constantly and in my view the oversupply of air makes it burn wood very fast. It contrasts with our Morso panther which we have had for 10 years and is very much easier to manage.

Stove Expert Replied: Sounds like you have learnt through trial and error how best to control your stove, it does take time but the rewards are well worth continued effort. Good fuel is a must on all stoves to get the beat results.

Great little stove

I had my stove fitted into a fireplace in November 2009, so it is into its third winter. Lights like a dream and burns well, but I'm still working out how to set the draught so it burns slowly but doesn't dirty the window. I would buy the same again. It's sturdy, solid, well made and "fit for purpose".

Superb Scan Stove

Well we bought this stove to go in the boys lounge as we are Already owners of the scan 8-2. We knew that we would be getting a quality wood stove with awesome control lability and modern looks. This is all topped off with a manufacturers 5 year warranty so you know these are well built. Scan stoves are about the best you can get you get a little welcome pack with the stove too which is a nice touch! The stove is extremely efficient due to the controls and the airwash system is fantastic. As this is a wood burner only don't expect it to burn overnight but if this doesn't bother then don't risk buying anything else as these are quality stoves.

Easy to use

Had ours fitted a few weeks ago. This is our first wood burner and we spent a lot of time looking at sites like this researching models. I had initially wanted a Charnwood Country model then a Heta Scanline 6 but was persuaded by the dealer to pay extra and buy this model as it is cast iron rather than steel. The build quality is excellent and it looks much better than the picture on this site.

I wasn't in when it was installed so missed the instructions on how to use it. Had a brief read of the instructions and got to grips with it in no time. Our fireplace is in a large kitchen diner and it heats it up a treat.

Stove Expert Replied: Don't forget the extra air requirements when a stove is fitted into a Kitchen, extra care must be taken on these installations to insure that enough free air is avialble for combustion to occur.

Excellent stove

Excellent stove, efficient, clean burning, big firebox. Good control and good heat output, airwash works well. Was recommended by local woodburner specialist shop and we are very happy with it.
