Review of Saey Scope stove

Stove fine - but TERRIBLE after sales service

Peter McKenna

Was really excited buying my Saey Scope last September, but it has turned into a nightmare - and if I could return it now, I would.

Within a week of purchasing the stove, the ash tray had warped badly - making it extremely difficult to get in and out. I contacted the distributor I had bought it, sending them photos of the tray. The product was in warranty and all I asked for was a replacement tray (it must cost all off $20 to make). Simple you'd think, but no - nothing happened. So I contacted them again and again, but got no reply to emails and fob offs on the phone.

After months of frustration, I emailed Saey directly. They responded quickly. A snippy email informing me that it was my own fault for over-heating the stove, but they were prepared to replace the tray once, but if it happens again - too bad.

I have tried to establish how exactly I over-heated the stove (and why they put parts in the stove, that can not take the heat it generates), and if there is a way to avoid doing it in the future. But no one can tell me. I also have a Morso stove for about eight years, and had no problems with that.

It is over a month since the email response from Saey - and still no sign of the replacement ash tray. I always beleive the trust test of company is how they deal with problems, and I'm afraid Saey have failed miserably.

If you do decide to purchase a Saey Stove, I just hope nothing goes wrong for you.
