Review of Morso s50

S50 dream

This is our first wood burnin stove and took us a long time to pick the one suited to our needs.

Looking at the stove itself before lighting.. It is beautifully constructed and solid! Weights a fair bit too. The door opens and closes solidly and feels firm. The stay cool handle does its job. The ash pan and the ash release system is brilliant and simple. We light out fire every day from lunchtime and empty the pan maybe once a week.

Lighting the fire is straightforward. No issues at all using the standard stick house method. Once going we use about 2x 30cm logs of average size every 90-110 minutes. This heats our open plan kitchen dining and sunroom. If it's lit for most of the day the heat does extend to the hallway and remainder of the house. We have definately cut back on our oil usage by maybe 2-3 hrs worth a day and replaced that with approx 5 logs a day.

Controlling the burn is simple with the single operating lever but does take a bit of getting used to. The heat from the unit is fierce and sustainable.

Very happy man and warmer wife and kids!
