Review of Morso 6140 stove

Morso 6140

Had my 6140 installed Autumn 2012 and it has surpassed my high expectations of it.

It is installed in a 2 storey, 100m2 modern built extension and ticking over nicely, it can heat this whole space, (in the Highlands of Scotland)!

Noticed that if the temperature outside is above 12 degs or so, the house gets almost too warm if the fire is set up not to smoke the glass, ie burning as it should, efficiently.

Really impressed with how well the convection aspect helps to circulate hot air about the house also. I had anticipated needing fans to blow it about.

Burning with enough air, the air wash works a treat at keeping the glass clean and it's a lovely feature.

Although simple looking, you can tell it has been very well designed and engineered. Pricier than some but you definitely get what you pay for with a Morso. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product.

Would struggle to say anything negative. It's not designed to be burnt overnight. You would maybe need a multi fuel stove for that and have a blacked out glass from such also. I have my stove on a glass plate. As the plate is highly polished, the stove did migrate an inch or so back over time with the momentum of normal door closing, nudging it slighlty over time.

2 small bits of wood at the back between stove and rear wall now prevent this.

One other tip is that I used single skin flue pipe as high as I could in downstairs room, connecting to twinwall flue 6" below ceiling, (as per regs). This was to maximise heat output from flue also. There is about 0.5m2 extra surface area with that and at 200 degs c or so, a worthwhile bonus.
