  • And it burns burns burns

Had it six weeks now and I am starting to get to grips with it. I have a new build house and it is really well insulated so this was a luxury buy not a necessity. Due to being a new house there
was no chimney, so flu cost's were north of the £1k mark, ouch. My biggest complaint would be the smell when it gets really hot. It leaves a funny odour, there is a CO alarm and heat alarm in the room its installed in, is it because its steel? I didn't realise the fuel you burn has such an effect on performance. I started off burning soft wood that wasn't seasoned (did it once) and thought why is the wood leaking..!! Bit of research and only straw like clumps of hard wood go in or fire logs made from compressed saw dust. Easy to light and maintain, also really easy to set the heat alarm off.

Stove expert replied: The curing process will take a few firings and should be built up in heat intensity, once cured there should be no smell that caused offence. Perhaps get the flue checked to insure correct clearances have been allowed for.

  • Excellent stove, but problem top plate

    Sam Martin 11 years ago

Excellent stove, we burn wood more than 300 days per year. Top plate dropped down and needed replacing, same is now happening to the replacement. Other than that happy with it.

Stove expert replied: You did not say how long you had had the top plate before distortion has happened, if only a short period you may be buring the stove too hard!

  • Good stove but problematic

    John Young 12 years ago

Looks good. Easy to light. Plenty of heat...but there has been a persistent unpleasant smell after several months use this has not really gone away. The effect is really in our throats and
gives us headaches. The supplier says nothing wrong. A dilemma. Where to go next? The CO alarm remains quiet. Is it possible to have gas analysis to look for SO2 or high CO2 levels?

Stove expert replied: If installer unable to help try contacting Hetas and ask if they have a specialist in your area that could visit, it may cost a little but for peace on mind would be worth it. Hope you get is sorted so that you can enjoy the stove more in the future.

The glass kept falling out because the brackets where to small according to the people at Morso this has never happened therefore I must be lying. Also tried to put blame on the Heatas reg installer
but as courtesy measure they sent me a new glass and guess what? bigger brackets; so much for their warranties and after sales service rubbish.

Stove expert replied: I think that Morso having supplied you with a new glass and bigger brackets is a reasonable after sales service, they may be correct in saying that it had not happened before but they have corrected it now!!

  • A very easy to use but good looking stove

    James England 13 years ago

Have had experience of many different stoves the Morso 06 is hard to fault. It uses much less wood than others I have used. It lights really easily and the firebox is large so you don't have
to put tiny bits of wood like other stoves. I would recommend them to anyone.

  • Morso 06 Stove

I spent a period of a couple of months researching and thinking carefully about which stove to get before deciding on this one. Morso have a fantastic reputation and I love the simple clean
lines as it was going into a fairly modern room. I've had mine for three weeks now and I simply love it. It takes a bit of time to get to know but once you have worked out how to get the best out of it, it's a joy. Loads of heat, easy to use. I don't bother with the air controls most of the time, leaving the lever pushed in all the way so the secondary air system and the air wash are at their optimum. If you burn it not hot enough or the wood is a bit damp the glass will soot up but most of it comes off with a wipe from a bit of newspaper. OK maybe not that cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. Well worth every penny.
