Review of Loxton 5 stove

Looks great, easy to use and great heat

Karen Jones 6 years ago

I went for the Loxton with the Ivory door. It's a great stove.

I find it very easy to light. I use kiln dried wood so it is lit in a couple of mins with just one firelighter, 6 pieces of kindling and two kiln dried logs. Make sure you turn the air lever to the left and pull it out fully. For those people that say it draws too much then check the ash drawer. This is part of the air wash system. If you don't close it properly it will draw air and burn very fast. The drawer may look closed, but if there's soot at the back of the recess preventing the drawer from closing it tightly it will still draw air. I find shuffling the drawer in and out a few times does the trick.

I've had no issues with the burner at all since I had it put in a year ago. It belts out the heat and I find it easy to use. I don't use gas central heating in my 2 bed terrace - I just put this on and open the door to my kitchen and the heat also goes upstairs and warms the bathroom and landing.

Stove expert replied: The ash drawer needs to be free of soot / ash deposits to insure a good seal, a stove ash vaccum can help to clean this area if problems are being experienced.
