Review of Logfire LF10

Logfire LF10

I’ve had the LF10 (round pedestal) installed for a couple of months now and must admit I am impressed with it compared to my last stove (admittedly a smaller Multi-fuel 5Kw stove) in our old house. At first I was hesitant to purchase it due to the lack of reviews, although on further investigation I have found this to be because the company (LogFire) is relatively new in the stove world. The stove is made in the UK which was another consideration for me, I like to support British industry where possible, and so my stove buying decision was narrowed down to a Clearview Vision 500 or LogFire LF10.

We were looking for an 8kw – 10kw stove with large viewing glass and of a contemporary design, this stove has a range of 6-10kw. We saw the LF10 in a local stove retailers showroom and were immediately drawn to it (this may have been because the stove was burning away and kicking out a decent amount of heat!). Overall, it was the very large viewing window size that became the deciding factor in our choice.

It is steel bodied so heats up very quickly when lit and is fully up to temp and warming our medium to large lounge in around 30-45 minutes. Lighting the fire is easy, scrunch up some newspaper and lay over some kindling and then place some small logs on top. On lighting the paper the door needs to be closed immediately as the hot air glass wash design will force the smoke forward and down the glass. If the door is open, it’ll pour into the room…you’ve been warned! However, with the air vent fully opened (at bottom, turned fully to the right) I have always managed to light it first time, no problems. The glass has remained crystal clear with the bare minimum of cleaning. I usually use some scrunched up newspaper on the glass every 4 or 5 burns, not that it really needs it as it never fogs up at all.

Being a log burner and not multi-fuel (like our last stove), I’ve been really impressed with how long the logs now last. Even with our last multi-fuel closed down (as far as possible as it was a DEFRA approved stove) logs didn’t seem to last anywhere near as long as in this one. Three or four medium sized logs will last a good few hours no problems.

One of the only downsides to the stove (in my opinion) is the installation / instruction / user manual. I’d really of liked far more information than supplied including how the firebricks are removed, how to adjust the door handle and a list of commissionable items the fitters should be checking (the stove arrived on a pallet ready assembled). However, I’m not sure other stove manufacturers supply such detailed information either and I have been impressed with the support (via email) I have received from LogFire stoves directly (they have answered all the above questions).

In essence a very efficient log burner, quick to heat the room and of a contemporary design with a very large viewing glass. I’ve been very impressed with this stove and remain reassured of product support through their lifetime warranty pledge on the stove body.
