Review of Jotul F 600 stove

Very good & very hungry

The Jotul F600 is a very good product. The typical slight Jotul problem is that in slow burn operation the very edges of the glass will fog up and because it is a very airtight unit starting the fire especially with an ordinary non lined chimney can be slightly tricky and might require you to leave ashpan or door slightly open for a short period. This is fairly typical for all traditional Jotul cast iron stoves. The build quality is exceptionally good. Miles better than Clearview, Charnwood and the rest of the sheet steel brigade. The firebox is massive and so is the heat output but also the fuel consumption. This is a hungry stove and over a 15hour period it will easily swallow up to 40/50kg of wood. The air control lever works very well, so do the doors/sideopener as well as the secondary combustion. I have used, installed and tested many different stoves over the years and this is a very good product provided you've got plenty of wood and a big space to heat.
