Review of Jotul F 400 stove
History of use
We bought this stove in 2010 and due to non retail issues (flood & chemical damage) the stove required replacement. Until then all we could offer was wow what a stove, worked in every way. The installer was very professional and I would recommend him to anyone. BUT...........In 2011 we had the stove replace (flood & chemical damage)since then the glass has cracked twice once due to tight clip and the other a piece of wood rolled. While the glass is an issue and appears to lack strength the main issue for us with this new replacement stove is that after working excellently for 10 Months now every time we open the door the house fills with smoke and the smoke alarm goes off and off and off. We have cleaned the baffle and only use 12 month plus dry wood and the flue appears clear as significant smoke can be seen leaving the unit (as normal)yet we still have this problem of smoke entering the room. The funny thing is even when the glass broke no smoke entered the room why its happening now is the question?
Anyway we have called the installer to come and investigate and will advise you of the answer. Overall its difficult to comment on this stove as it had worked well but now nothing but trouble? Lets hope the issues are resolved quickly and easily and one that others who have similar problems can use. If so the stove would remain high in our rating if not we would not be able to use the stove and one must question a potential recall and /or review of the purchase under the via Victoria Consumer Affairs. Hope to add to his within a week?Stove expert replied: As this problem is a new one then it is best to look at what has changed to find the cause and rectify - I am sure this can be done so that you can enjoy your stove again.
