Review of Jotul F 100

Jotul F100

R F WATSON 11 years ago

After some research we went for the F100 mainly on appearance and build. This was 5 years ago. Overall we are pleased with the stove. Lights easily and produces enough heat to satisfy a lounge 27' x 16'. Door handle is excellent. Airwash works fine though keeping wood off the doors does help prevent glass staining. Drawbacks? The baffle became distorted after 4 years and required an angle grinder for its removal. Fitting the new one then requires a huge amount of patience. A recent problem arose when the stove had not been lit for 5 cold days. Smoke belched out filling the room. Following advice we removed the baffle and using a small amount of kindling to start with and blocking the control aperture we warmed the flue up. Then spent a frustrating hour getting the baffle back in. We have a Hunter in the kitchen which on one shovel of coal warms the room all day. We have burnt wood on the Jotul but have ordered a multi fuel grate hoping this will operate like the Hunter.
