Review of Jotul F 100

F100 Longevity?

Tim Newman 11 years ago

I installed this beautiful little stove eight years ago and it has been brilliant until recently, and now it's disintegrated! It became prone to overheating, so obviously was drawing too much air from somewhere. Now, taking it apart I see broken castings everywhere, it had been slowly blowing apart. The cause? Thermal expansion and contraction coupled with ash and rust build up in all the joints. I could easily have avoided this if I had frequently stripped it down completely, advice that really should have been supplied by Jotul in thier instruction book! Anyone do a service exchange?

Stove expert replied: Routine maintenance is recommended for all stoves to insure that they are working effectively, thia would have pro-longed the life of the stove no doubt!
