Hunter herald 7

Fitted the inset burner last September and tried various fuels but all very disappointing. It no way puts out 7.5 kw.(more like 2-3kw)The only way to get any heat out is to have it roaring with an electric fan placed underneath to force some hot air out of the top vents(similar to the american set ups)Without the fan there is no heat.I wish I would have bought a free standing one, at least the heat has chance to escape into the room rather than into the wall and up the chimney. It has been fitted as per manufacturers instructions.

Stove Expert replied: Insert models should produce heat into the room providing it has been insulated round the insert box to prevent the heat from radiating into the builders opening. Worth checking!

disappointed customer

BOUGHT THIS STOVE TO SIT EXACTLY WITHIN AN EXISTING 'NORMAL FIREPLACE OPENING. DISAPPOINTING RESULTS. IT TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF BEFORE ANY NOTICABLE HEAT IS PUT OUT. THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL QUOTES HAVING THE AIRWASH CONTROL OPEN ABOUT 50% BUT IF U OPEN IT MORE THAN A FRACTION THE HEATED AIR VENTING OUT APPEARS TO BE SUCKED INTO THE STOVE ( THE VENTING CONTROL FOR AIRWASH AND HEATED AIR COMING OUT ARE IN THE SAME COMPARTMENT. I CONTACTED BOTH MAIN SUPPLIER AND HUNTER STOVES IN CASE THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG AND ALTHOUGH I WAS OFFERED ADVICE I COULDN'T GET A SITE VISIT WHICH I REQUESTED ( JUST TO CHECK EVERYTHING WAS OK AS I AM UNFAMILAR WITH INSET STOVES OR ANY MULTIFUEL SYSTEMS.

Stove expert says: sounds to me like the installer (or an installer) should be booked in for a site visit here. It sounds like there could be a strong draw on the chimney.
