disapointed

Very disappointed with output, heat goes straight up chimney. I need to leave door open to get full benefit, always putting logs on. Top reflector plate sits in loosely can be dislodged when putting logs on and is impossible to refit until fire dies down. I have spoken to my supplier about this problem who in turn contacted Hunter who did not think there was a problem . Having looked at other Hunter stoves they appear to have fixed metal reflector plates, I think this would be a major improvement for this model.

Stove Expert Replied: Again get the chimney / flue checked to insure the flue draught is not too strong. Is there a good clearance round the stove to allow the heat to radiate freely?

Good little stove

This is the only stove we have had, chosen for its size & unfussy appearance. We have had it for 6 years we light it in November and it stays in permanently until April. It is 4kw and is in the dining room at the front of the house coupled with the Aga in the kitchen we very rarely need the central heating on. Would buy it again and am also considering buying one for my Daughter for Christmas

Hunter Hawk

If likened to a car the Hunter Hawk would be a Lada.

It does the job (just) and is nothing special but will get you there. After 5 years it looks tired and even after new firebricks and an overhaul it still does not quite cut the mustard.

Now if you want a cheap but very average small stove go for the Hawk but you may well find that you change to something that gives a better performance after only a few seasons.

Hunter Hawk 4

I loved my stove when it was first delivered. It is very cute and appealing. It burns well although the airwash isn't as good as it is written up to be. I have a chimney through the roof with a cowl and somehow the rain gets in and makes the top rusty - not good! The other problem I have is the size. It is quite hard to find a supply of logs small enough and it doesn't burn long enough to have it permanently going. I now wish I had bought something a little bigger.
