Review of Hunter Herald 8 stove

Good Value, good controls

I bought a Hunter 8 Slimline in 2013 with recommendation from an installer friend, it is great value for money, gives a lot heat to all rooms in a bungalow, and a clear view of the fire as the air wash is quiet good, the controls are good and easy to use BUT

1. I get a ticking noise when the stove is changing temperature, this is the sound of ticking steel, a bit annoying when room is dead quiet

2. it is the slim version and if you've got a deeper hearth then go for normal 8 as it is quiet hard to fit a reasonable amount of fuel in the slim stove.

For people who say that some smoke comes in to the room when the door is opened; the trick is you've got to turn door knob and open the door just a little, wait for a second or two before opening further and then no smoke at all into the room. Overall I am happy with my Hunter stove so far.
