Review of Hunter Herald 6 stove

Hunter 6 Multifuel model

This unit is excellent in quality and usability. As a stove for room heat and as an open front fire to sit with it is very good. The water heating ability in my home is disappointing. You have to run it like a furnace to get useful hot water output (and then you burn a lot of wood). I have not used any form of coal yet, so I cant comment. I would suggest that with wood stoves you need to go a size larger than what you think you actually need. A Hunter 8 is what I should have installed. When running normally with the doors shut, the airwash works fine. When you throttle off to a slow burn rate then the glass gets sooty. I would imagine that all stoves would be like this. Its easy to light, operate, clean out. All the parts fit accurately. Its well built and heavy. It will last for years. Good instructions. I have rated a 1 for overnight burning as I have not done this and cannot comment.
