Review of Harmony 23
Not happy
I may review this stove again that is if things get any better. I have just purchased it, and the first time I lit it went ok. The last twice I tried it went out on me. I find it just as the very last comment. I tried to follow the instructions which are only for wood. Unless I leave the stove in the mid way position, that is only for lighting, between position A & B it tends to go out. The initial kindling takes off ok. Manual says to let this die down to embers and then add more fuel gradually. I have short thick logs, it wont take very many of them due to the shape of the firebox.
If I turn the flame control down to 1ight it simply goes out. Although I added the Polish coal twice it lit with less problem. But the room filled up with a dreadful smell that was frightening. My chimney has been fitted with a 904/904 stainless steel flu and filled all the way up so that cannot be the problem. I have read the positive reviews and am trying to stay positive myself. I will give it a chance as I cannot certainly afford to replace it. I really need help with this. I am going to search for the control under the stove that was mentioned earlier. I do not want to be too negative but my experience thus far is far from satisfactory. Sorry to do this.Stove expert replied: Smokeless fuels are recommended on closed appliances and this may be worth trying when you have established the controls on the stove. New installations can often produce a smell but this should cease after a few uses.
