Review of Franco belge Savoy Elegance - MKII

Sweeping the chimney

John Spiers 9 years ago

I have a Savoy Elegance in a property that is rented out. Twice I have sent chimney sweeps and both times they have been unable to work out how to access the flue. I think this is because they are unable to remove the baffle plate. The original installer replaced the baffle under warranty because of the well documented problem with the original design. The installer told me that the first time he installed one of these it took him 4 hours to work out how to do it! However the installer is no longer in business.

Are there any simple instructions I can give to a sweep so they will be able to complete the job (hopefully in less than 4 hours)?

Stove expert replied: I am not sure why there would be a problem here – the baffle simply pushes upwards and can then be removed. If you are still having problems then I suggest calling the UK distributor who will talk you through the procedure. They have said that they haven’t had any calls from people saying they are struggling and certainly have not had anyone say it takes 4 hours to remove. Perhaps try an alternative Chimney sweep!
