Review of Franco Belge Montfort stove

Sweeping Again!!!

Keith Boden 9 years ago

After the problems last year when the C Sweep couldn't remove the bottom grate. The supplier came took the fire apart and angle ground a piece off the back. They swept the fire once they put it back together. Called the C Sweep this year and he removed the grate, which was cracked when they removed it last year, but couldn't remove the Throat plate/baffle this time. He's never seen a fire so badly constructed and worries about the retaining screws on the baffle. They will deteriorate and be unable to be removed in the future.

Stove expert replied: You do not state how old the stove is. Screws should be able to be removed and would suggest loosening them on a monthly basis when you do the routine check to insure that there is no debris fouling the airways, at the same time check the rope seal etc.
