Damper and Door problem

Jose Whishaw 11 years ago

Can someone help.

I have had my montfort Stove for eighteen months now and have had a few problems with it,

1. The Glass continally darkens forcing me to have to clean this every day.

2.The Chimmney sweep man could not undo the Screws which hold the damper plate in place so that he could not get the Flue cleaned, the supplier ended up having to cut a hole in the flue and fitting a Cover plate on this to enable me to clean the flue,

3. the door does not always shut which leaves me having to wedge a coal bucket up against it during the night,

Otherwise the Stove is really good, please advise what are my options?

Stove expert replied: A replacement door handle may be a good investment or go back to supplier to see if a replacement handle can be supplied under warranty unless you can adjust to correct the fault. Is the wood that you are using dry and well seasoned with a moisture content of less than 20%? Are you leaving the airwash open?
