Review of Fireline FP5 stove

good,could be better

Thought I'd review the fp8 as there are no reviews on this stove yet. This is a very powerful stove for its size and it does a fantastic job of heating my whole house,a large 3 bed semi I haven't used my central heating since I installed it 4 years ago. The only things that let it down are it's internal parts luckily being a Hetas installer I can get parts trade price. The vermiculite fire bricks last about a month before cracking but they're easily patched up with fire cement and at the end of the season if you buy a sheet of vermiculite board and cut you're own it works out a lot cheaper. I've also had to replace the glass due to it turning white, the fire bar and the baffle plate because they had burnt through but I've now replaced the baffle and fire bar with stainless steel which I made out of scrap material my local metal shop was throwing away now they will out last the stove. All in all a good stove for the money and very economical on fuel if I fill it up with hardwood logs and shut it down 6-9 hours on one fill is easily achieved and 15 hours plus on smokeless coal.

Stove expert replied: The glass discolouration is likely to be due to the stove being shut down for prolonged periods, it is important to give short periods of fast burn at least twice every day if using 24/7, these fast burn periods should be for no more than 20mins at a time and will burn off any tar deposits that are produced. The discolouration is due to the gases staying in the firebox for prolonged periods and a chemical reaction occurs that affects the glass but does not affect the integrity of it, the marks will not wipe off.
