Review of Firefox 5 Cleanburn stove

Learning curve

Colin Tudor 9 years ago

Had a Firefox Cleanburn II installed on Friday. Easy to light and there's plenty of heat. The thing is with these multi fuel burners is there as learning curve with them. Its all about trial and error. What I mean is we lit it last night (Friday night) but didn't really give it long enough as we lit it quiet late. We have lit it again tonight but kept it going with wood and Smokeless coal. What you have to remember is that, it's not instant heat like off a gas fire, they can take a while to get warmed up. Nice and warm now. The stove itself is a nice looking stove, I'm happy with it. Its a very well built stove that looks aesthetically nice in our lounge. We paid just over £1100 to have our old living flame gas fire taken out, the alterations to our hearth, the flue liner and chimney cowl. I could have done everything myself but decided against it and went for someone Hetas registered. Our installer started on Thursday and finished off on the Friday morning. All in all, perfect. Loads of heat from our Firefox! Kind of looking forward to winter now. We will probably use the summer months to stock up on wood and smokeless coal and just store them.

Stove expert replied: Wood should be dry and well seasoned with a moisture content of less than 20%, a moisture meter is a good purchase to insure you get this part right.
