Good Burner

A Harwood 12 years ago

Installed a few months ago so given the burner a good run/test and generally very happy with it as it does what it says - Gets hot and puts out loads of Heat which is great for heating our large 1920 Detached property. We have turned off our central heating as we find the burner is more than enough to warm the whole off downstairs.\nAirwash System or secondary air control is not brillant we only burn clean well seasoned logs and have to clean the glass everytime we use it. We run the burner at about 400 degrees (have a temp gauge on flue Pipe)the Primary control works really well but have to leave the secondary airwash open or the glass just browns up which means as you cant shut the burner completly down so it is hungary for logs.\nHandles are removable to stop them getting hot, but as you have to keep feeding it logs it is a pain to keep putting the handles on everytime. So i have fixed ours on permanently now and use a protective glove to open the doors.\nApart from those small niggles really pleased with the burner. \n\n

Stove expert replied: turning a stove down will tend to blacken the glass - the airwash works because a curtain of air is drawn across the glass to keep the deposits off and of course to achieve that you need to have the air controls open at least partly.
