Review of Esse 300 stove

heat a plenty

Alan Phillips 13 years ago

This is a superb buy I have now had mine 6 years and it is still a pleasure to light and watch come Autumns chill.\n\nWe had an open fire prior to buying and thought the heat from that was good the heat output and control of the 300 is superb! I have noted a reviewer say that they had trouble with overnight burning we burn a mixture of stove nuts and Ancet fuels plus logs in the evening and ensuring the ash pan is at least half full before closing the fire up and filling to just under capacity ensures we can leave the fire a good ten - twelve hours.\n\nThe best part is the chimney runs through the bedroom and bathroom the two rooms most used upstairs and my wife and I have never been so comfortable.\nIt is rare we put the Winter duvet on at all this ensures the room is warm at all times even with the window open!\n\nIt was bought as a supplemental to the gas heating but it is rare we use the central heating except when we have guests or the weather is especially inclement, this is helped by double glazing, cavity insulation and a traditional build construction.\n\nAll in all its been a super buy and we have had a 2 front fire bars and one rear fire brick we have needed to replace in the 6 years but that was while we were experimenting with fuels and we found some burn to hot and damaged the parts but we are very very pleased with our little stove and it is the centre of conversation when we have visitors as it looks good lit or not.
