Review of Esse 100DD stove

Great little stove

Damian Hadfield 9 years ago

We've had our stove installed for the past year and living in an old cottage we have it on a lot. We found that logs burnt away very quickly and we could not shut it down enough. In the end I dropped in a metal plate to reduce the air flow which worked. I now use Ovoids so that we can keep it in over night or while at work. Running 24/7 it uses about 4 x 100 weight bags of Ovoids a month (180kg I think). At £16 a bag it works out at £64 a month running constantly. Our room is 5m x 6m and the fire is usually fully shut down so that the room doesn't get too hot. The glass soots up a bit but we do shut it down which doesn't help. The wide body allows large logs which is great. I find the stove easy to light. The controls are basic and aren't the best for fine adjustment but its not hard to get it right.
