Review of Esse 100 stove

Christine Drew 9 years ago

We bought the 100SE which we thought was just a log burner, but is actually a multifuel stove. Its actually wider and narrower than most 5kw stoves so looks like a much higher capacity stove. We chose it because our room and fireplace are quite large and we didn't want the stove to look insignificant in the fire place. We are delighted with the look and performance of the stove. It lights easily and pushes out loads of heat. The flame pattern is lovely, and the air wash system keeps the glass clear. The wide door gives a lovely view of the flames. We bought some kiln dried logs to start us off, just a small amount until we establish a regular supplier. The only thing I am slightly unsure of and this has nothing to do with the performance of the stove which is excellent. The logs seem to burn rather quickly even with both damper vents closed off. Could this be an issue with the chimney having too powerful a draw? I recall speaking to someone who said that if you live on a hill and it is windy the draw from the chimney make effect the fire.
