Review of Clearview 750 stove

Have been using one for 15 years

An excellent stove and the best household purchase I have ever made. This winter we ran our Clearview non-stop for a record (for us) three months with no trouble keeping it alight overnight for up to 8 hours. This period it was mostly burning softwood, hardwood makes overnight burning even easier. \n\nIn 15 years of use I have had to replace the steel top (ours is a flat top) due to it becoming warped. I have also replaced the fire bricks, the door seals and the inner glass panes.\n\nCriticisms? Well the airwash is perhaps not as good as it could be and one does have to use glass cleaner occasionally; I have found HG glass cleaner to be very effective. It is also essential to use dry wood so in order to keep the stove going all winter long, as we have done this year due to the ridiculous price of oil, one does need a good sized woodshed.\n\nI have a friend who has a Clearview fitted with a back boiler awhich, as one would expect, results in the stove operating at a lower temperature. The result is that he has trouble with the stove tarring up which is not a problem that we experience.\n\n

Stove expert replied: Short periods of fast burn should help to burn off the tar deposits which accumulate on slow burning stoves and the amounts depend on the fuel used.
