Review of Clearview 750 stove

pumping heat

I''ve used the Clearview 750 for 2 winters now and can say all in all I''m pleased with my choice. It''s a big decision to make and one you have to live with. Thought I''d add my observations to this website as I found it very useful.

As with all stoves - installation is critical - and will dramatically affect the performance. Get a good fitter. Mine was installed with the external air kit - the stove draws fresh air from outside and works well.

The good - easy to light / gets hot very quickly / clean glass (a wipe once a week is usually enough) / great styling / ash pan easy to use

The bad - low efficiency compared to many other stoves / expensive / shipped with a squeaking left hand vent / external air instructions + diagrams on the website not clear at all.

Firewood type / moisture content / firewood size also make a big differences to the burn. I never attempt overnight burn when it takes five minutes to light.

For users I suggest logs cut to :

450-550mm length / 100-150mm diameter ( easy to stack )

and equal amount of shorter thicker logs to build the fire you want.

Stove expert replied: Ideally logs no larger than 100mm diam is recommended to get maximum efficiency / burn rate and they should have no more than 20% moisture content. The fuel and installation are key for any stove to operate effectively.
