Review of Charnwood C 6 stove

Not nearly as controlable as I'd like.

I had this stove installed in August 2014. The stove lights well, but over draws. I've tried well seasoned wood, house coal, smokeless pellets and anthracite lumps. This stove burns through EVERYTHING unbelievably quickly. My installer has returned twice to check the installation and draw. Within 4 hours, a full load of coal has turned to ash. My parents, who have a Stockton 6, can run the stove for 18 hours on a full load of coal.

I contacted the manufacturer asking for help in controlling the stove, in shutting down the air supply.

They told me that as the stove had been approved for smokeless zones, it had a tertiary air supply that could not be shut down, and consequently would burn faster.

The room heats up far too quickly, and then either you let the fire go out or you refuel, meaning it gets FAR too hot.

I'm on the verge of looking for something like the Stockton Brunel 2CB that looks a lot more controllable.

Overall, the stove looks great, no complaints about anything other than ... I can't get it to burn for more than 4 hours on coal before needing a refill. Logs last maybe 40-55 minutes depending on size.

I want to love this stove - it looks great.....
