  • Looks great but the reality is somewhat different

It''s a beautiful fireplace with a large glass viewing area which wipes clean quite easily. High heat output for its size and looks good but first opinion was that it lacked depth but wasn''
t at all bothered. Used a mix of seasoned wood and defra approved eco coal. 3 weeks in of continuous use and it''s a totally different story... All 4 firebricks are severly cracked and the throat of the fire appears rusty beneath the peeling black paint. It stood for a while before any real use and the horizontal bars were rusty before use. In conclusion this is a great fire if you want to have friends and family round and show off once every now and then but as a real fire to heat a front room or kitchen then just don''t. It''s clearly built with a poor grade of steel and firebricks don''t stand up to fair usage and therefore not fit for purpose. Even as a showing off piece I''m not entirely sure it''d not just rust away.

Stove expert replied: Usually rust will only appear where moisture is in the air, you say this stood for a while before use. This may have contributed to the rust. Internals appearing 'rusty' are also a sign of over-firing, getting the fiorebox too hot for long periods of time. When the stove is not in use for long periods of time, you should open the air controls and ideally, crack the door ajar slightly to allow for air-flow.
