Burley Wakerley 12kw
I bought 2 of these after seeing the 8kw version on in a local shop, paid £800 each, having a very large property we thought we would need something this size...however when they are in full flow we find ourselves taking off a layer and even on occasion opening a window!
Had initial trouble getting it to run right but after emailing Burley they put me in touch with the stoves designer who has been fantastic. Having never had a wood burner before only coal fires he helped us get them running efficiently. Now its a pleasure to sit and watch the flames dance....fabulous
Stove Expert replied: Perseverance enabled this customer to get the best from his stove, it does take time!!
Trying to find a stove that gave us the performance and the aesthetic we wanted proved difficult until we found the Burley Wakerley stove. We do have a large Georgian house with four other stoves but this one can heat the whole house by itself and has created a focal point for the kitchen/family room. Highly recommended.

Burley Wakerley 12kw
We live in a partly renovated stone cottage in South West France and it was very cold here in the winter. After 3 winters with ancient patched up stoves I decided no more scarf’s, gloves and woolly hats in the Winter to keep warm so we bought this beauty for £900 all in.
I installed it myself with the external air vent to prevent heat loss and for this year only we are using heavy single skin black vitreous enamel flue externally when I should have used more expensive double skin flue.
However the stove runs efficiently with dry wood, the flames dance about, the glass stays clean and it heats my house. It looks very grand, all my French neighbors are impressed and I spend less time chopping wood as it burns less.
I'm very happy but the key to a happy house in also insulation so I'm stuffing sheep wool into my rafters and I will re position the stove to the centre of my house with the flue inside and covered so the heat is more evenly spread. I spent a long time researching stoves and I'm glad of our choice.
Stove expert says: use an insulated chimney to improve its performance but also to reduce the very real risk of chimney fire. Single skin flue only is not a great option.
