Review of Burley Hollywell 9105 stove

2 years of use

I have used a Burley 9105 for 2 years now.

The wood burner is very efficient and does burn the ashes as stated however a few points to actually make the most of it:

- Starting the wood burner can be a bit tricky mainly if you are used to conventional stoves. Indeed, the air inlet are not at the bottom of the combustion chamber but kind of half way. So I found that it is better to leave ashes at the bottom so the wood is then at the right height for the air inlet. Starting is then very easy.

- The wood burner like most requires attention. At the start I have it full blast and then reduce it half way when I have nice flames, Whilst full blast burns harder, the heat output is not maximum as some of heat due to convection inside the chamber goes up the liner so it is wasted and affect the output of the stove. Dropping the air intake reduces the draft and the heat stays longer in the combustion chamber helping increasing the temperature and the efficiency of the stove.

- Make sure you clear the air inlet before starting mostly if like me you leave a lot of ashes in it.

In 2 years I emptied once at the beginning because I wasn't using it properly so the burning rate wasn't great. Make sure your wood is dry, I use kiln dried wood.

The stove is slightly expensive but it is efficient for a small box like that and looks quite nice.

Very well built knowing it is steel, Good finish, Expensive but efficient, easy to use once I figured it out and no tray to empty.

Overall a very good stove once you understand how to get it going. I will be buying a second one.

Hope this helps.
