Review of Burley Hollywell 9105 stove

Happy One Year On

Alan Drury 7 years ago

Read a lot of reviews before having our Hollywell fitted a year ago and decided to wait until now to get a good chunk of experience before commenting. After a full winter of pretty intensive use I''m still very happy. The heat output is great, the stove is controllable and I''ve not had any issues. Some have said the Hollywell is hard to light but I don''t find it so, just use sufficient dry kindling over part of a firelighter brick and it''ll go first time every time. Having tried a variety of things I can say wood quality definitely makes a difference. If I burn scrap wood off pallets etc the glass will soot up requiring daily wipes but with seasoned hardwood logs it stays almost clear and the burn is also much better. My advice would be don''t try to economise by burning rubbish or shutting the stove down too far; you''ll only get a poor burn and soot up the glass. Looking back I also realised that it takes time to get used to your stove and to discover how to get the best out of it so don''t be too hasty

Stove expert replied: Very good comments, so true to take time to get to know the stove and how to operate it to get the best from it!
