Review of Burley Brampton 9108 stove

Airwash doesn't work

Steve Randall 8 years ago

White ash covers glass within hours, requiring a clean at least once per day. Some misting of glass has already occurred and can't be removed with the supplied ceramic hob cleaner. Permanent damage seems likely. Had woodburners for over 20 years. The failure of the airwash system is a major problem and its a pity I didn't see Dave Rigby's review before I bought this stove.

Stove expert replied: If the stove is over-drawing causing a smoky appearance on the glass that will not clean off, this is not the fault of the stove but an installation problem that can be controlled with the use of a damper or stabilizer and should be explored further to prevent more damage occurring. This can normally be verified by the stove not being able to be shut down so a slumber mode is possible, little heat being generated for the amount of fuel being used etc. Do check that the door seal is working effectively (shut a piece of paper between the body of the stove and the door (when cold) see if this can be pulled out, it should be firmly in place showing the door seal is working effectively, should it come put easily then the door needs adjusting to regain the rope sealing against the body.
