Review of Bohemia 40 stove

Bohemia X40 Cube

Pete 11 years ago

We had this stove installed with an external flue recently.

We have not had a stove before. The room size is 21ftx10ftx7ft with large windows at either end.

Main reasons for purchase were the shallow depth of this model (26cm) and the wide and large window at the front.

The stove lights easily, warms quickly and heats the room very well. Cannot really comment on maintenance yet. The Handle does get hot but Bohemia supply free gloves. The airwash works well and the window requires little cleaning.

One note - we had a grantite back to the hearth approx 3 inches from the back of the stove. The stove gives out a lot of heat and the granite slab has cracked behind the stove. Best advice is to install a slab/hearth made of smaller sections to allow for expansion. Not the stoves fault but thought I should mention this as many buyers will buy this model for the shallow depth.

Stove expert replied: Ideally 100 - 150mm clearance should be allowed behind a stove and agree with the above that if the slab was in smaller sections the expansion is easier for the materials used preventing damage.
