Review of Bergen stove

Not totally happy

We bought this stove months ago and it has taken a long time to get used to it. It takes a lot of kindling to get it going and it's quite often hit and miss. I like the look of it very much and was looking forward to using it. Its difficult to get going and the air vent isn't very efficient. It smokes so much leaking smoke into the room rather than up the chimney and I wonder if it would be better with the external vent. On the few occasions when it has been hot it has been wonderful. We have another woodburner in another room which is a different make and I would rate that one much higher.

Stoves Expert Replied: Get the flue ckecked to insure that this is not causing the smoke as the draw should lift it up the chimney not allow it back into the room, you may need an anit-downdraught cowl. Have you an airbrick in the room where the stove is sited to provide adequate air for efficient combustion?
