Review of Barbas Escamo 70 inset stove

Escamo 70

The outward appearance of this stove is clean and smart and belies its size. Installation was difficult (it weighs a LOT), given that I employed a builder who hurried and re-built a chimney breast around the unit! Recommended: use professional stove installers; they are expensive but, I feel certain, are cheaper than the alternative.\n\nThe stove works beautifully, pushing out a significant amount of heat quite quickly. Lighting is never a problem; rate of burn is easily controlled. Whilst the air control handle is a little small, giving only a small amount of leverage, it nevertheless works well in conjunction with the small hook provided.\n\nOne soon learns to burn dry wood, otherwise the door tars up rapidly! Access for cleaning is easy enough, by twisting the handle and opening the door outwards rather then sliding it upwards - neat!\n\nOverall a great purchase.\n\njp\n
