Review of Aztec dowling stove

Phenomenal bit of equipment!

Just managed to get out 'Aztec' fitted in time for Christmas. The house has never been so warm! I only need the gas central heating on for an hour in the morning. I really love this stove!

Ours is 8 Kilowatts. The room is about 8metres x 4metres, and gets so warm, we leave both doors open, which lets the heat into the rest of the house. Even the attic bedroom on the third floor has the chill taken off it.

The Aztec has quite a big 'mouth', so it can be fed to fill with wood, then turned down for the night. In the morning, all it takes is the chimney opened up, and the flames start to dance after about five minutes. If it has burned low overnight, a few dry logs catch very quickly, and its away again. Have taken ash out once, so far, in three weeks - and that was only done because we let it go out when we were away for two days. Left about half an inch in, (wood burners need that to run well), and it lit on one fire lighter. The house still felt warm when we returned after our two days away. I reckon it wouldn't have to be emptied more than about once every 4 to 6 weeks.

Stove expert replied: Seems a great investment.
