AGA Ludlow
New to stoves and did a lot of research and waiting (6 months). It came down to the choice of an Aga Ludlow or a Clearview equivalent. Will not knock Clearview as they have plenty of happy customers but the Ludlow was almost £400 cheaper and does a great job in a large detached house. I like the Ludlow design mix of a contemporary/classic appearance and the window is big enough to see the flames. The feel of the heat seems to have a glow about it that may be an attribute of cast iron as opposed to steel. I have yet to experience a harsh winter with it but I am sure it will cope. Only one point Aga have now changed production to Lemington Spa where they make their ovens. The model I purchased was one of the last made in Shropshire, whether there will be some teething problems remains to be seen. Given the current economic climate I would struggle to justify spending a lot more money for a slightly hotter product especially when stoves like the Ludlow seem to perform so well. Aga also have a longer warranty period which reinforced my decision. I think the combined aesthetics, construction and functionality of this product make it a sound choice. Beware of waiting times/lists if you are in a hurry to get one!

Sound and honest feedback of this happy customer. Good to know that Aga is still maintaining their long established good quality.

Little Gem of a Stove
So glad the Ludlow has been added to the review section. Have had it installed since October '11 and have to say overall it is a brilliant stove. This is our first stove so can't be too comparative. Stove looks good and heats our downstairs easily. Once you understand the 3 control wheels/sliders the airwash system works well. Ill be honest if you want the glass crystal clear you have to give it a clean constantly. Also I only burn logs so I cant comment on coal etc. What I will say is that I've never managed to keep the stove in for more than 6 hours with WELL seasoned hardwood logs, however this is not a negative comment. With coal I believe this stove would easily stay in all night. Finally for the money I can't complain really is a lovely stove, very happy.

AGA Ludlow
Had the stove in for 2 months now, had it lit every day. Great stove for the money - like the single door and the fact that the handle stays cool. Easy to clean out and very controllable. Set in an alcove we bought a stove top fan that pushes the heat out into the room rather than going up chimney, heat from stove can be felt all over the house, not just the room it's in. Also use a magnetic thermometer on flue pipe which helps with controlability. Build quality is excellent. Would definitely recommend this stove.
Stove Expert replied: Stove top fans can make a big difference as it moves the heat generated round the room so much more even temperatures achieved.

I have had the woodburner for about two months now (December 2011) it certainly does what Aga advertises it as. The only issue I have had is the amount of heat i get from the woodburner, i currently have the woodburner within the chimney breast and i think this is hindering the heat getting into the room properly. I will try and get the woodburner further into the room by using the rear exhaust pipe instead and allowing the woodburner into the room more.
