Throat plate problems

Ian King 11 years ago

As previous reviewer stated the throat plate will not stay on the side firebricks, it seems too narrow to rest on them comfortably, I have had a horrible time replacing the plate when it falls off, especially when I have a roaring fire, it is very dangerous. Also the plate is supposed to be stainless steel, well it is VERY heavy and it is extremely difficult to lift with one hand, which you have to in order to move the side bricks back.I have an add-in boiler installed so I don't have bricks at the back, where is the plate supposed to rest? I have tried to find out without any success. Overall I have been underwhelmed with this especially with the throat plate fiasco!

If you have a boiler the side liners would noramlly sit at the sides edge to boiler edge so that they are more towards the front of the stove rather than being pushed right back. This should then give you plenty of liner on which to sit the front of the throat plate, the back resting on the boiler.
